Eco Green Leaders:
Cultivating Sustainable Futures Through the TEFAT Green Curriculum
The Eco Green Leaders program is driven by a deep commitment to environmental sustainability, acting as a vital catalyst for change within our school community.
Our core aim is to empower students to become proactive, informed, and passionate agents of environmental responsibility. Through the implementation of the TEFAT Green Curriculum;
“An innovative teaching and learning framework that places the environment and sustainability at the very heart of the educational experience.”
At Rounds Green, we aim to move beyond traditional classroom learning. This curriculum integrates eco-literacy across all subjects, ensuring that students develop a comprehensive understanding of ecological principles, the challenges our planet faces, and, most importantly, the practical solutions they can help implement. We believe that by embedding these concepts universally, we are not just teaching a subject; we are cultivating a lasting, sustainable mindset for life.
Practical Objectives for a Greener School: The objectives of the Eco Green Leaders are focused on achieving tangible improvements in sustainability across our school. Together putting the ‘Green’ into Rounds Green. This year our overall focus is on Food;
A major objective is tackling waste: we will make others aware of ways to lower our food waste in school. The Green Leaders will be responsible for monitoring and weighing weekly food waste to highlight the significant need to reduce both our environmental impact and associated costs.
Furthermore, we pledge to improve our outdoor area in order to provide a sustainable environment for growing food. This will involve planting herbs, fruits, and vegetables, and also incorporating plants into our classrooms and calm spaces to enhance well-being and air quality.
We aim to start and collaborate our Green Leaders with a school Gardening Club in the spring and summer term to ensure these projects are successful and involve a wider segment of the school community.
By focusing on these clear, actionable goals, we will ensure all of our children are not only learning about sustainability but actively driving it forward, all coming together at the end of the academic year for a Fabulous Food Festival to celebrate our learning and environmental connections.
