The curriculum is designed around three key aims;
‘The overarching aim for our curriculum at Rounds Green is to provide rich, memorable learning experiences for our children, whatever the background and need is; whilst placing reading, vocabulary and oracy at the heart of our lessons.’
Our curriculum has been designed to build the cultural capital of our children and to reveal possibilities all around them. It has been designed to meet the needs of our Rounds Green pupils, acknowledging the importance of experiential learning with a specific focus on the development of vocabulary and oracy; with key vocabulary identified in all medium term planning. Our curriculum focuses upon ensuring that our children are well educated and understanding of the wider community, beliefs and religions in order to become well-informed well-rounded citizens for the future. The culture within our school enables our children to work and understand and practise the seven virtues that are the heart of our school:
respect, determination, honesty, teamwork, citizenship, curiosity and kindness.
Developing our children’s knowledge of the world around us is imperative to us both locally and globally to ensure they become knowledgeable citizens when they leave Rounds Green by using the School virtues map:
