PE Overview
At Rounds Green Primary School, the PE curriculum aims to inspire all children to develop a love of physical activity and sport. We believe that physical education is fundamental to a well-rounded education, fostering not only physical health but also mental well-being and personal development.
The curriculum is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to enjoy a lifetime of active and healthy living. Students develop competence and confidence in a wide range of physical activities, including fundamental movement skills, sports, and dance5 Our curriculum is designed to build upon pupils’ skills progressively, starting with the development of fine and gross motor skills in the Early Years Foundation Stage and extending to more complex skills and sports in Key Stage 1 and 2.
Through PE, children will develop essential life skills, such as teamwork, resilience, determination, and respect, aligning with the school's whole-school virtues. The curriculum promotes a positive attitude towards physical activity and encourages students to strive for their personal best, fostering a "Never give up" attitude.
At Rounds Green, we recognise the importance of collaboration and actively seek partnerships with local clubs and community organisations to enhance the PE curriculum and provide students with a range of extracurricular opportunities. This holistic approach aims to embed physical activity into the culture of the school and provide students with the tools and motivation to lead active and healthy lives beyond primary school.
